Place Value

The first thing we have learnt about in Maths this year is Place Value.  This means understanding and recognising the value of each digit in a 2-digit number.  For example, we have learnt that the 4 in 43 actually means 4 tens, or 40, and that the 3 is a unit, or ones digit.  We practised making and writing numbers in as many ways as we could, using lots of mathematical apparatus.
